Alice Le Biez

Born in 1987 in Guerande, France, Product Designer Alice Le Biez lived and studied in different countries of Europe :

Her first diploma was at the National Ecole Boulle in Paris in Arts and Crafts. She learnt the traditional techniques to conceive and produce a product.

After that, she moved to Brussels in Belgium where she did a Bachelor in Industrial design at the National School of La Cambre. During four years she worked with 3D softwares such as Solidworks and work in collaboration with manufacturers.

In order to complete her education she moved to Manchester in England for a Master at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Art. Her final major project was a combination of her different education. She decided to use her skills to combine craftmanship and new technologies, 3D printers.

Her design practice is to create products which combine the traditional and future techniques of creation. How traditional objects, skills offer to the designer a new field of creation when you combine it with new technologies.
Bowls by Alice Le Biez

3D Crafts Bowls by Alice Le Biez Alice Le Biez, French young designer has realized a set of three bowls, printed in 3D ceramics. The shape of each bowls reminds traditional ceramics technique. She created with her project an illusion of a hand-made bowl by the design but also by the making process. Her 3D printing object explores the link between traditional skills and new technologies and demonstrates that designer can use the new technologies as a tool to go further in their work and discover a new field of creation.
