Vincent Chi-wai Chiang

Vincent Chiang's design philosophy is simple: to achieve balance between beauty, function and cost (including environmental). Born in Hong Kong, Chiang received a degree in interior architecture at Middlesex University London and went on to work in the R&D department of Steve Leung Designers after graduation. Leaving to co-found his own design firm, In Cube Design, Chiang has been a Professional Member of the International Interior Design Association and International Furnishings and Design Association since 2008. With more than 15 years' experience in interior design and project management, Chiang's strength is in space planning. He has handled over 300 interior design projects, including the series of Shanghai PoPo 360 and luxury houses in Hong Kong. If asked which is his favourite project, his reply is always 「the next one」.

GyuKaku-OnYasai Restaurant by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang A project with two different theme and type of cuisines, maintaining its integrity under the brand, Gong (hard/masculinity) Yau (soft/ femininity) is the design concept of the project. Inspired by Yin and Yang, which describes how opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world. Gong and Yau to represent grill and boil respectively, just like a contemporary Japanese’s love story of Yamato nadeshiko and bushi that showing authentic Japan’s spirit with modern touch.

Dining in here is a special and happy dining experience, combines fabulous food, quality service, with detailed and amazing restaurant design. A good interior design can escalate the scene of freshness, which is the tastiest dish. The design concept Power of the Ocean fully by its selection of materials and design details, bringing the foodie to enjoy the freshness meal. Japanese and French fine dining core spirit- powerful ambiance and detailed decor are shown in the selection of materials and layout plan.

Teawood - Aberdeen Cafe and Restaurant by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Teawood is a chain Taiwanese Cafe & Restaurant. Unlike many franchising, each store has its unique identity but echoes the brand value and can be linked as a story at the same time. Teawood at Aberdeen with the design concept Happy Fishermen due to the historical background of the place, where was a fishing village famous in Hong Kong. With signature pattern of fishing tools and symbolic colour of Hong Kong’s fishing village, designers come up with a contemporary meets traditional interior design.

Shanghai Po Po Restaurant by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Demonstrating the ambience of the famous movie In the Mood for Love, which presents elegant and romantic French meets Chinese culture. The design brings visitor back to 70s Shanghai, they can feel the aggressive transformation of Shanghai by the stunning and signature colour of the place. An artistic touch on the traditional Shanghai’s style expressed in its brick wall, elegant glass lamp, signature colour of oldish Shanghai decoration set the tone of the restaurant to realize the famous romantic Shanghai French Concession at Shanghai Po Po.

Teawood - East Point City Cafe and Restaurant by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Attracted by the two cube lightings at front door and then come to a sign ‘Get Shocked! Square in 3-Dimension Power without Limitation’ when entering the restaurant and the design concept, Electric Power Cube is printed on visitor's mind. Energetic and dynamic icons are in the restaurant to match this new developed district in Hong Kong. Ceiling light in cube, feature wall with gear wheels embrace the variant ambience to attract young generation. The circuit liked bronze track on the wall connected the whole restaurant into the theme. Visitor is recharged for their body and mind after dining.

Hilarious design enhances the dining experience. The restaurant emphasizes the gathering and sharing moments with family and friend. Ceiling and wall show the sophistication of Japan architecture’s beauty. Design concept Dancing Chrysanthemum is presented by the dedicated design in term of the lighting and chosen materials.

Teawood Mega box Restaurant and cafe by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Gift box is a symbol of joy and a creation of magical memory for everyone and also express happiness and love. Designer modernized the cubes to ceiling decoration and the wrapping paper to wooden wall. Design concept Gift Box brings attractiveness and magical memory to diner. The restaurant is in a family mall called Mega box, and it is interesting to have a surprise box inside this mega box to enrich the harmony and cheerful lively atmosphere. The harmony design brings all kind of customers in different age and well fit the all day menu the restaurant provided.

Fully adopts Surrealisme in interior architecture to enrich the dining experience. The extensive use of wood, and in particular the organically sculptural forms of the tables, chairs and ceiling elements in contrast to the linear wall cladding, endow the interior with Found in Time concept .

The most primitive raw materials are fully utilized to generate a modern and future atmosphere. Designers deliberately made good use of extremely high and low building ceilings, as well as placing radioactive woods of different sizes, for the sake of creating more space advantages.

Fisher & Farmer Food and Beverage by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Fish & Farmer serves Beijing cuisine and Sichuan cuisine and Cantonese cuisine with highlighting the combination of color, aroma and taste where Hot and Spicy is the selling proposition. Overall design is like its cuisine expresses the brand features in Chinese style. An artistic touch on the traditional Chinese style expressed in its distinctive design, bold colors design and displaying the flaming sensation set the tone of the restaurant to realize the baking-hot feeling and display a refined elegance of Chinese dishes and environment at Fish & Farmer.

ROOT Food and Beverage by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang ROOT is a new creative and French dining restaurant. Taste from raw concept is being applied and integrated into restaurant interior design with seasonal ingredients that will delight most selective buds. Fine wood and raw stones are selected to make sophisticated modern interior design details. Extensive use of wooden screens made up of divergent sizes imitates a real forest and creates a refreshing dining atmosphere.

Teawood Food and Beverage by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Teawood is one Hong Kong based story telling restaurant brand with many branches. Each shop has its own design theme to reflect the district characteristics. Designers created an unique Tsing Yi Teawood restaurant dominated by gray-blue and wood-colored, generating a feeling of being surrounded by the sea. The extensive use of murals on the wall and mirrored imaginary suspension bridge over the diners heads are the products of designers after visiting the Five Bridges, bringing the local features to the interior.

The giant scale of ceiling design with a large luminous clock and lighting system bring customer eye wide opened to dine in the watch mechanism beyond imagination.

Inspired by The Hyper Realist Salvador Dali, designer develops a surreal interior space from the real. Artistic touchup in every corner makes the cafe an art gallery to hit the class of Japanese Dessert Master. The elegant style, with girlish and delighted tone paints the cafe with romantic colour.

To match the brand theme of Beans Cafe, which providing a breathable place for people to escape from busy living, technique of light reflection and materials selection are applied. Cave also a protective shelter, customer feels safe and relax inside. Shining of crystal catches their eye and reminds them the good time in there.

The designer created a Korean Flower Garden for the diner to enjoy the combinations of traditional and modern food here, to feel the endless passion and vitality.

The alchemist cafe serves a space for all guests to read and share travel books in a warm and relaxed environment. The space also serves as a culture exchange and art performance stage for local artist. With the design concept Al fayoum Oasis, where you could think of natural forest in Egypt to immerse the mind into the peace and relax your body and soul.
